Thank you for your care and understanding with us. Thanks for helping us through a tough time in our lives. Thanks for working so hard on Mom to make her look nice. You did a good job. Thanks for everything from the bottom of our hearts.
Lory’s place is a family service center founded by Hospice at Home. Its mission is to provide peer support group services for grieving children and their families throughout Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana.
The Center also offers an Anticipatory Grief program to assist those experiencing the anticipated death of a loved one due to illness of disease. Children and their families learn to work through their grief and begin the healing process by sharing feelings, experiences, and memories with peers in a support group setting.
Lory’s Place provides regularly scheduled support group sessions that allow children and adults to interact with peers who have suffered similar loss, or who are experiencing anticipatory grief. Music, art, story telling, nature, writing, and play promote the healing process.
Children, aged 3 to 18, and their parents, guardians, grandparents, other relatives and close friends are welcome at Lory’s Place. Young adults may attend independently, and adult groups are also offered.
*Lory’s place was established in 2004 in memory of Dr. Lory Schults, who died at age 40 in an auto accident. Lory loved her two young children and enjoyed life fully. Lory’s Place is dedicated to all who grieve the death of a loved one.
